CCAR Releases COVID-19 Guidelines and Courses for Automotive Educators
August 24, 2020 | Waltham, Massachusetts
CCAR (The Coordinating Committee for Automotive Repair), in partnership with Electude, has released COVID-19 best practice guidelines and online training for automotive technology educators.
The guidelines emphasize the importance of using in-school time primarily for labs, as lectures can naturally be managed online more effectively than labs.
“Our guidelines are designed to address the challenges automotive educators must manage as they come back to school this fall,” said Charlie Ayers, president of CCAR. “We recognize the complexity that automotive educators face
under normal conditions and provide common-sense recommendations for current conditions.”
The materials CCAR has developed include:
- COVID-19 Career Education Guidelines, with strategies to create a blended learning environment that helps keep students and staff safe, while reserving in-person school time for hands-on training and providing guidance for conducting classrooms and lectures online
- Best practices for shops and labs, including a COVID- 19 Lab & Shop Process Acknowledgement that focuses on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and social distancing
- COVID-19 Recommended Supplies for Schools beginning of each in-school day
- A COVID-19 Touch Point Cleaning Checklist
- Ongoing guidance as the impact of COVID-19 evolves
Also included are innovative, interactive COVID-19 online learning modules specifically created for professionals in the automotive field. They may be purchased as part of CCAR’s
E-Safety course, or as stand-alone modules: both are available at Electude.com.
“We are sincere in our hope that our guidelines and supporting materials are of value to automotive educators and the challenges they face delivering instruction during the pandemic,” Ayers said. “And we are delighted that Electude is such a willing and enthusiastic partner. They worked with us in the development of the guidelines as well as in expanding our existing automotive- based safety resources to include COVID-19 learning modules within the E-Safety platform.”
Thomas Snyder, Chief Commercial Officer of Electude said, “We are excited that CCAR has taken on the development of these standards. They are a new and valuable resource focused specifically on how automotive educators are to manage during the pandemic, the likes of which we’ve never seen before. Electude was privileged to assist CCAR in the development and distribution of these important documents. We fully support their mission.”
